Description
Aliens are such small things. Okay, I don't exactly view grasshoppers as alien creatures, but there is something in their anatomy that is distinctly otherworldly, distinctly outside the realm of "humanity." I once imagined that they (and other insects) are the native life forms of this planet, and that humans are invading interlopers. In many ways, they're so well suited to life here, while we must adapt to environments that are always somehow foreign. Funny how that works.
As always, thank you for viewing and commenting, and reading this shorter than normal comment. I hope everyone is having a great start to the weekend.

wonderful photo!!!!!!
The DETAIL! omg. That's fantastic! Zoom is wonderful.
Wow..beauty..as usual..
Love the uniform he is wearing...ready to do battle with the bigger boys, (the birds or whoever comes first, looking for a tasty morsel). That would be a sad day for the hopper, glad you captured him in all his glory first and what an amazing clear & crisp shot. I agree, that I can also see, the Alien-like qualities, to this highwire act. superb macro... BB
Look at the coloring on this little critter! Fantastic image Chip and great thoughts. They do seem to belong in a different realm! This is a beautiful specimen and you surely did him/her justice! Well done and a good weekend to you too! :)
Wowww!!! Fantastic Macro my friend!!!! Hugs:)
ho my god your the onley person i know that can make a bug look great. great work.
He does seem quite otherworldly ... and quite intrigued with the human species. Fantastic shot. CC
A magnificent pic!!Such details.
Superb capture as always.OMG!! This fellow seems coming from a fish feast:-))it seems to me,at least!Zoom is a truly need!!Fabulous details!!
Great work. The detail is fantastic
what a wonderful crisp shot, and ideed, I guess you are right, they are and will be the true native forms of our planet, as they adapt better and quicker even to hostile surroundings than we will ever be able to
That's a curious customer, I do not believe that we have anything like him in Souther Ontario. I love the contrast of the branch against the insect, very catching combination but still so natural. It is interesting to think about the fact that arthropods and mammals evolved on the same planet. Makes me think of your story 'The Inquisitive One'.
startling detail! I love the way he seems to be eyeing you.
Awesome detail, but how do you know that these guys and the praying mantis didn't come from some distant galaxy and were deposited hundreds of thousands of years ago inside a meteor that was in fact not a meteor at all,b but their vessel. It's possible....
my god, amazing shot, one day i wish to have a camera like this, to capture this kind of pictures, i love it, but i keep on dreaming
Well, who knows--they could be aliens!! I LOVE the color and detail--almost jumps right into my face!!
Wonderful capture.
