Description
Here it is - the most recognizable geyser in Yellowstone. Since 1870, Old Faithful has been known for faithfully spouting off every 35-120 minutes. We waited (patiently...?) on the wooden bench for 45 minutes. We were rewarded by a tower of water that reached a height of 130 feet and continued to shoot up at various heights for more than 5 minutes. Lots of gurgling noise and steam!
It was great! My daughter even got video of it and you can hear the people oohing and ahhing in the background. lol.
Thanks for the looksie and any comments you'd like to leave. Thanks also to those who've made my uploads part of their faves!! Much appreciated and really makes my day.

So cool you have been there and seen it. Great picture of it, but I am sure it is something to actually be there and witness the awesome beauty and power of it.
there's a big story on the hisory channel about yellowstone park, the entire park is one large volcano, the land is rising because they say the magna level is full and it blows about every 50.000 years or so, and is due. it's estimated to destroy alot.. great shot, i though thet also said the geysers were not working correctly. hmmm
Yeah... there is a great article in the Nat. Geographic August issue. It has been known for a long time that Yellowstone as a whole is an old volcano. It has formed the mountains in that area for years. They have determined that the caldera has been doming up and that IS a sign of more recent activity. But, that is only one of the many signs. They are watching it closely as they are aware of the risks of more frequent seismic activity. It is predicted to be the next super volcano but so far quiet enough for tourists. All the geysers were working at tip top levels for us! ;-)
I watched that hisory channel show about yellowstone, Sure hope it doesnt blow for a while :) Nice shot!
Beautiful shot! What a wonderfully dangerous place :)
They call it OLD FAITHFUL because it always makes a grand showing of itself, but that's quite a time gap between 35 and 120 minutes (2 hours), Jodes! In any event, a super shot of the geyser amidst the sky and terrain.
Awesome capture Hugs Susan~
