Description
Cool autumn wind on my back
My Greek fisherman’s hat
I have waited
Too, too long
For this journey to begin
And when I finally leave
I won’t be back
This way again
I have felt the lash
Of responsibility on my back
It has stung my soul
Compromised my creativity
Left me weak from the fear
Of not being able to make it tomorrow
Others who have depended on me before
Will have to make their own way
In this great big cruel world
My soul cannot take
My spirit will not last
If I spend one more day
Just trying to get by
This old vaggabondd
Has the whole world
Just waiting to be seen
As long as I get done in time
For work on Monday
I think you are either responsible or you are not and I guess I am but there sure are times when I wish I wasn’t haha. Hope you like it. Vaggabondd

Sometimes our adventures are of the soul, and fortunately they can be squeezed into the odd times between life's necessities. Wonderful words and sentiment!
Wonderful poem! I know the feeling.
How very true! In order for us to create, we must be secure; in order to be secure, we must work! That can be soul-draining in and of itself. but as long as we hang onto our vision and our beliefs of who and what we are, we will still create and inspire others to create not only with us but by us and for us!
I especially like the last stanza, how true! Reminds me of a line from El Condor Pasa - 'a man gets tied down to the plow, he gives the world it's saddest sound, it's saddest sound'.
Quite moving my friend...well written:-)
Ahhhh ... "stuck."

Yep--I get it--bent over with the weight of the world.
An excellent read and I love the ending, and how true it is that most of us live our dreams through fleeting moment, but we always have or dreams and we always have our moments and then we always have reality, that starts on Monday.
Randy, I have the time and you see what I'm doing with it...Monday's and Friday's don't mean much to me...good write...and thanks for inviting me to the poetry read, hope it was good.
