Here's another macro of this insect I captured, while at the cottage last week. Thanks to NightGallery, who suggests that it might be a syrphid fly. http://bugguide.net/node/view/308955 The original image was a bit dark, so I had to use those magic PS filters to extract details. Cool shot! These little guys do look a bit like a mini dragonfly, but it is likely some type of Syrphid fly. There are a lot of varieties of them, so it would take some time to find what one. But you can search over at BugGuide.net. Well done.
