Description
The park is named after the French explorer Louis de Bougainville who came here in 1768, a year after Captain Samuel Wallis, commander of the 'HMS Dolphin' became the first European to set foot on Tahiti and claimed it in the name of King George III. In 1769 Captain Cook arrived in Tahiti on the 'HMS Endeavour'.
The park is located between Boulevard Pomare and Rue de General de Gaulle in Papeete.
