Being educated Herr Hendesse naturally assume that everyone know what the Bridge Monkey is. As I am less sanguine about the modern youth today, I will come to assistance! The monkey Bruckenaffe is situated on the south bank of the Old Bridge at the university in Heidelberg. It was made by sculptor Gernot Rumpf, based on a carved monkey from medeival times. The monkey carries a mirror, and the adjoining inscripion roughly translates as: Why are you looking at me? Look in the mirror and you will see more of the same" :)
