Description
Here are 3 shots taken in quick succession of a young male Ruby-throated Hummingbird. His red neck plumage has just started to come in. I thought the 3 of them needed to be posted together so I made up this layered image.
In the top shot, his head was turned just enough to lose the red reflected light that gives the species their name but after a slight turn of his head, the red becomes apparent as the sunlight hits it.

Cool effect - I thought the first the upper one was a female.
WONDERFUL SHOTS ,I COULD WATCH HUMMERS ALL DAY BUZZY AROUND
Love the way they show how the colour changers as it turns its head.
