Description
these was in training when I got there. They went thought the drill and then they broke up; got the fire going for coffee and play on the banjo some. They then told me of the battle down the road so i took off to where the battle was at.
I had the focus on the young man as he looked at me here but as I took the shot the man in front lower or rise his gun. Lol lost the shot but it still the best one out of 60 other shots of them doing they drill. note the movement in the photo too. i think I had it on low speed at the time as I had it on manul len. It was a old len 70mmx280mm and I had to have the camera on manul.
these guys will be in the battle the next day as the battle is two or three days long. South did win this small battle here in Mansfields, lousisana USA. just in case you wish to google it
thanks for all

Men/boys 'n' their guns! Love it! (:
Great job on capturing this one Jock, I'd love to attend one of these
Nice shot. That soldier is being bad, if he's looking at you though ;) I remember reading diaries of soldiers of that war when I was a history major in college. Unbelievably awful, I can't imagine why they stayed in there and kept on fighting.
Another good shot of the gathering.
Wonderful shot, Jocko! Sometimes movement makes the picture, such as this!
This isa good shot and not because I love your Civil War reenactor shots. These guys could probably use a bit more drill!
Excellent capture!
Wonderful feel to this and I do love seeing the boys in gray. Where I live now, all you see historically are the blue coats.
My, what long, and heavy, rifle barrels you've got there, gentlemen! Line up straight, boys...this ain't exactly coon hunting! Stellar capture of the prebattle operations and preparations, Jock!
My sister in law has 15 acres of farm land where the confederate soldiers gathered before marching to the battle of pleasant hill. People have found there camp site stuff and bullets inthe trees.
Great capture! Those are long guns. Seems like they would be awkward to carry in battle. I like the motion.
very interesting stuff.I bet you enjoyed stopping there
cool historic shot my friend x
