Description
This is really just re-using a ship model I made quite a while ago, but I haven't had the time to build anything new and I really miss doing some SciFi stuff. Plus, I wanted to incorporate more of the things I've learned about doing backgrounds in the last several months. So, here a large transport is coasting past a planet as they get ready for the next phase of their journey.
As always, the ship is my own creation, modeled, textured and rendered in Bryce. the background and planet, as well as compositing and post work all in Photoshop CS3.
Thanks for taking a look!

Fantastic modeling and background,Mike! Love all of the detail on the ship, lights, etc, and the texturing of the planet. Truly stellar.
Wow..superb modeling and texture! Fantastic space scene! :)
Fantastic looking ship and a great scene!

Excellent modelling and presentation....great work on the planet and starfield!
Nice view of your ship model! Glad to see you dipping back in to science fiction images.
Excellent composed scene and great idea.

There's never a problem with using a great model over and over.

These get MORE and MORE EPIC!!! David
Remarkable work! Great!
Very nice modeling and presentation. The textures and background really work well together. Another impressive image my friend. All the best, David
IMPRESSIVE
A very cool ship...some of the lines seem a bit sharp and the shadows and dark lines make it appear overlayed on the background instead of blending into and becoming part of it...sorry, don't want to sound too negative...besides you might swipe me with that claw thing...:)...I could make this ship sing in one of my images...:) Nicely done overall!
I love your model!!! And the rendering is superb. :)
fine work with the modelling and image!
This is one of those wonders of science fiction that show why I like the genre so much! There are so many SF renders on this site, but this is one of the few that really sticks out and makes me interested in the whole story that this implies. The realism is astonishing, the composition is spot on! I love the perspective, as if this craft is silently and magestically coasting past you...and I think that's what I really like about your SF work...there's an accuracy here, a logic that shows through, an awareness of how things might work, and how they might look. What I especially like is the fact that outer space is silent (a vacuum, after all) and your work carries this implication: despite what Star Trek and Star Wars and various other Space-based tv shows and movies have led us to think and expect. It's exciting to imagine the rumble of engines as a huge starship zooms into camera range, but it's a bit more realstic and eerie to a degree to see a ship, and not hear a thing. I think you manage to convey this silence due to your absence of glowing engine exhaust (another wonderfull accuracy, since you don't need to keep your thrusters burning, unless you enjoy passing your navigational targets.) So, all in all, this is fantastic work. I have to catch up, and I'll be doing so, but I simply had to say something about THIS gem of a piece!
