Description
The word "force" is used in many parts of northern England as a synonym for "waterfall"; it comes from the old Norse word fors
The stream rises at Stybarrow Dodd at over 2300 feet and flows north easterly before turning south on an 5 mile journey to Ullswater.
Just under a mile from the lake the stream known as Aira Beck makes a 65 foot drop over what is known as Aira Force.
From there the beck makes its way over quite a number of far less dramatic but nonetheless very picturesque falls and weaves its way over craggy formations of rock.

What lovely scenery, and a beautiful capture!
Fantastic scene
very nice waterfall ! love the water !
Stunning capture.
Magnificent!
Beautiful landscape. You've captured the silky water perfectly.
Love the water effect! excellent choice for shutter speed!
Your capture makes the water looks soft but I know it is much more forceful than it appears. Good job turning it into a moody, dreamy scene.
Fantastic shot !. P.S never got a chance to get to Blaneau... too busy chasing a steam engine around.
Excellent shot!
I can hear it, and I can feel it.
An enchanting place.
