Description

The sound was so beautiful. You could hear it at the other end of the building. I wandered down the corridor and there she was, sitting at the old upright in the music room.

Ok now you're thinking, "what the hell is he doing back here???" I got lost. No seriously (sounds like a cheap standup bit), I said I'd go back to your early posts, and I never did. (You don't wanna know why...the last 2 months were something out of a bad sitcom...) So now I will. And I hope to come back here more than once. Dude, there's a treasure trove back here! Whoever "Bella" was, thank her for inspiring you to post. And thank you to Tara for telling me about these pages. Ok, I'll try to get in some comments here, this evening...

A touching, gentle 'vision' of a pianist, playing in a tall room, alone. And it does feel like you "came upon" her, rather than having been with her from the start. Very expressive light and shadow. And that piano---I know that sight well---it doesn't dwarf her, but rather she tames it...gently. Your choice of a green-tinted sepia is perfect. And the intense light coming through the window feels like she's somehow in touch with it. I like the composition too, with that stage protrusion, front left. Really fine shot and postwork, whatever you did to it. I was a pianist before anything else, and I can tell you this captures the repose of playing a piano all alone in a room where no one is present...beautiful image.
