more of Whalley Abbey..this was the reredorter, toilet block. Possible to see the stream diverted from the river to power the abbey's corn mill, flow through the abbot's kitchen then the toilet block before returning to the river. Cunning...
The abbey dates from 1296 and lasted to the Dissolution of the abbeys in mid 1530s. the old stones are very mellow and beautiful.
