Description
Designed primarily for employment in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) as a cargo manipulator, the tug can also be used to aid collection and stacking of mineral hoppers on deep space transporters, and in this role is mounted forward on the spacecraft to be carried to and from mining sites. In a secondary commercial application, the tug is equipped with claspers for capturing orbital debris, such as defunct satellites, spent launchers and fragmented equipment, for recycyling into valuable materials for resale in orbit. It costs $10,000/kg to place items into orbit, and there are now many thousands of large pieces of discarded hardware otherwise presenting a navigational hazard that could be profitably reclaimed.
