Description
The new 200mm lens made it possible to get this pic. I often see Deer on my property or they see me, snort loudly and run off, lol. My little Coolpix was never able to reach out and capture them so I have only posted maybe 2 images of Deer in the past 5 years.
About 10 days ago, I watched three of them eat the last of the Day Lilies I had blooming in one of my flower beds. They ate open blooms, closed blooms, and the foliage to the ground. Oh well, they gotta eat, lol.
When I got this shot, I was sitting in the shade with my back against a big Maple tree at the edge of my pond. I was waiting for Dragonflies to land on some stems at the water's edge but I was not having much success. I heard a faint noise behind me and when I turned to look, I saw this young female Whitetail browsing on some ground ivy about 60' away from me. I managed to get a couple of shots before she heard me and headed into the woods.
Thanks to those who take the time to comment.

She's gorgeous! Great capture. The pose so natural and unassuming. Delicate bone structure and apparent grace. Outstanding work, Lee.
What a great capture. Your place sounds so peaceful I'm envious of you. Now that you have your new camera, I'm looking forward to more animal shots and as I have said before I am certainly enjoying the variety of images lately. I do although think you have improved greatly over the years and not so much credit should be given to your camera but to you. I have been on vacation so will catch up on your gallery soon. Again, super image!
Great shot it looks a bit like Muntjac deer we have in the UK, fleeting glimpses and then they are gone.
Magical moment!!
Great to get such a capture. Well done, Lee.
You will have nothing left soon but the deer will have a full tum :o)
Well that is some short summer hair your deer have. You can even see the veins in her legs. Excellent photo Lee!
She's an elegant beauty. Excellent capture Lee.
Great capture, thanks for sharing such a beauty with us. : )

How lucky! Right in your own yard! Wonderful capture of a special moment! Glad the new cam and lenses are working, I had a coolpix, but wouldn't trade my bigger cam for nothing now!
This is such a wonderful shot! I love it :)
