Captured this creature, and at first looking at the back of the camera thought I had gotten it wrong, but the full image revealed he does have a brush looking feelers.

Looks like a lake fly to me, but I was under the impression they were unique only our area. I'm not sure where you are located, but if I'm right, things aren't going to be the most pleasant from here on. They don't bite, live for only twenty four hours after hatching. They hatch about 3 to maybe four times a year, but that's here in Wisconsin, in a warmer climate......geez, who knows? Don't swat one if it lands on your clothing, I've lived here all my life, and no one has yet to figure out how to get the green stain they leave out of clothing, paint, anything. They smell just like dead fish when they die, doesn't sound like much from just one little bug, but when you literally have billions of corpses laying about, I promise you'll take notice. Ok,... I'm done, and really hope that someone didn't plant these near you, it happened here by a University professor wondering why they were so prevalent on Lake Winnebago, yet not to be found just a few miles away on lake Buttes Des Morts. So he planted some to see if they would survive and flourish. They did, and the people around that lake ran him out of town. Good luck!
OMG!!!!!! If you don't live in Wisconsin by lake Winnebago or lake Butt De Mort these things are spreading. Don't use a pressure washer on your house when these things are hatching , That's what we call them we have lake fly hatches. They swarm, they have been here for years. You can't get that green blood off of anything. They are easy to squish too. It is the one thing I hate about this area is those awful lake flies.
