Description
A couple years ago when I was just starting to take pictures, I went to the Walsterway Iris Gardens with Ann and took a million photographs of flowers, and about three of the dog that was hanging around the yard. I posted one of the doggie portraits and just called it "Walster's Dog," because I didn't know his name.
I'm sure many of you know about how much attention a two-year-old post here on RR gets! Like ... nothing, right? Imagine my surprise about a month ago when I not only got a comment on "Walster's Dog," but the comment basically said, "Hey cool, that's my dog!"
The Walsters have a daughter named Kim who helps them out at the garden, and she was looking on the internet for stuff related to Walsterway and came across the portrait of her dog. (How cool is THAT!)
(I know there's at least one or two of you wondering what the dog looks like ... you can see it here if you're one of them.)
So when Ann and I went out there again this year, I made a point of finding Kim and introducing myself. Now I ask you ... is there a better place on the net? Renderosity has not only allowed me to meet people all over the world, but right here in my own neighborhood, as well!
Oh yeah ... and as long as I was there ... I took another million iris pics. I'm going to make you look at all of them, too!
Mwaaaaahaahaahaahaaaaa!!!!
(Oops! Thanks, Bill! The dog's name is Bear.)

wonderful close up
What an amazing story and lovely that you were able to meet her. I love this bright and happy macro of this superb Iris.
wonderful shot of the dog, and "Bear" is fitting. A great hefty dog. (As an old girlfriend used to say, "wow, that's a real dog!") And the iris is beautiful. I just commented on Andrea's recent iris, and what a difference there is between the two shots, both beautiful. Yours zeroed in on the center, and it reveals all the strangeness and organic 'otherness' of flowers. Those spindly things, I don't even know if they're stamens: But they emphasize how other-worldly flowers really are. The whole thing crosses over flower-hood to abstract; flower shots can do that. (I think of O'Keeffe's flower paintings, which explode on the canvas and turn flowers into massive journeys into the inner sanctums and wombs of the soul.) "Iris" comes from the same root as "iridescent," and these are iridescent. Beautiful flower shot again, this one a closeup; and it's a spilling big sun of a shot. Post as many as you wish, your flowers are always wonderful...
Wow! that is just so brillant, the colour is outstanding! excellent capture Tara!
