Description
Another variety of 3D fractals are the heightfield fractals. These are "ordinary" fractals, such as a julia set where the third dimension is usually related to the number of iterations needed for a given point in the fractal. There is a lot of artistic flexibility here, and I won't go into any details except to say that I designed a mesh raytracer to work within UltraFractal 5. The image was created entirely withing UltraFractal 5 with no post processing.
