Description
The Red-backed Hawk (Buteo polyosoma) is a species of bird of prey in the Accipitridae family. It is found in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Falkland Islands, Peru, and Uruguay.
Its natural habitats are temperate forests, subtropical or tropical dry forests, subtropical or tropical dry shrubland, and subtropical or tropical high-altitude shrubland. It has adapted well to the colder climates in the Falklands which can hardly be described as subtropical !
I have been fortunate to have been there on many occasions and was interested to hear from locals who call this the female hawk, the Red backed Buzzard and the male The Grey backed Buzzard as if two seperate species.
Apologies for not being around much some health and family issues prevail..

What is most striking in this fabulous instant capture is the quality of light that brings out every single detail of the subject. Excellent work, as always, Danny!
