Description
Last Sunday I once again returned to The Biesbosch, one of the biggest marshes in Holland.
As beavers are partially nocturnal animals, I had to go in the evening to watch them. It was not easy to spot just one, but when I did I was lucky enough to take some pictures. To do so, I had to use flash light.
From Wikipedia: The European beaver (Castor fiber) is a species of beaver which was once widespread in Europe, where it was hunted both for fur and for castoreum, a secretion of its scent gland believed to have medicinal properties.
The European beaver can be as big as 52 inches and it is considered to be one of the biggest rodents in the world.

Great shot, I used to watch these as a kid, and even crawling on hand and knees to try to sneak up to them, they would see me, give a big SLAP of that tail, and they were gone! So I admire the fact that you were able to get this shot!!
