Description
Well folks, this tranquil image has got a story... But first the image! I snapped it late yesterday afternoon and it is exactly as I downloaded it from my camera - No postwork except the frame... The light and sky was amazing - I do not believe I have seen anything quite like this!
When I took this image, I was feeling very far from tranquil! We (my sons, one girlfriend and my granddaughter) were coming back from my brother's birthday celebration about an hour and a half from home. My eldest son decided that we will not take the trusted and known route home, we will follow the shortest route according to his GPS.
Now, I am not a GPS girl. In fact, I hate them! I am more of a map girl - determine my route ahead of time, know exactly where I'm going etc.
Back to yesterday! I was very reluctant but was told to trust him. (my son) Well, to cut a long story short - this journey (thanks to the TRUSTED GPS) took us three and a half hours OVER a mountain (half of the journey in the dark) on a dirt road that will make any 4 wheel drive vehicle suffer. Please note that we were travelling in two Toyota sedan vehicles!!! It was indeed the shortest route but took us 2 hours longer and shortened my life by a year and gave me extra grey hairs!!! My only reward - this image!!!!
Thank you for popping in and for your valued comments and favs on my previous upload. You all rock!
Take care and use a paper MAP!!!!
Hugs, Carin xx

wow! you are a true adventurer Carin...great shot !!
I'm a mapper too. But this shot is stunning, you could have just said you went that far out of your way to get it and we'd have believed you and thought it worthwhile!
wonderful photo!!!!! .....There you had a marvelous adventure journey! ;-)
By the look of this shot Carin I'm sure it was worth it, beautiful and stunning colours! and hey! No postwork Fantastic image!
This is wonderful. I like GPS a whole lot, hate when people insist that researching the terrain maps is pointless. Now you never have to trust any GPS again, even if asked. Hehe. And if you're really in the mood, you can hang this work of art on your wall as a reminder to all.
What a wonderful Capture. Such a beautiful light. I am glad you all came home in 1 peace... each :-)
I guess this is somewhere in Africa ? beautiful lighting !
Wow, what a trip! Don't you just love 'adventurous' sons? lol Great image, and I'm glad you're all okay:)
amazing view and moody scene! a dream! ;o)
This is gorgeous Carin :)
It's a splendid image, Carin! :)
I just never had the need for GPS.my cell phone has it but I am not going to pay att a dime to use it.on Jocko500 and my trip last April, I sure was wanting my former FJ Cruiser Toyota to be able to travel in deep snow, but the cost of fuel was prohibitive back when I had it. excellent lighting and capture
Stunning capture Carin.
Great shot with lovely mood, I'm a map man but use the GPS for the last few miles if I need it. The GPS once nearly took the top off my van, it led me under a low bridge which was clearly marked, but in the UK you dont expect the bridge to be so low only a car can go under it.
Lovely pic! I'm a map girl, much prefer to do as you. One of our coach companies has banned GPS, after a group of school children missed their day at Hampton Court Palace when GPS took them to a dirty back street called Hampton Court on a council estate miles away!
Outstanding photo, Carin! I agree that you could have said that you planned this shot adn no one would have been the wiser. However, I do agree that using a map is the best way, which is why I'm the designated navigator!
Well, so much for GPS technology. Back to good old paper maps, right, Carin? In any event, a masterful capture of this beautiful, tranquil scene. So tranquil in fact, that my eye lids are getting heavier and heavier as I gaze upon the scene.
Lol!!! Love the story Carin! And the image is stunning! Marvelous color and that lone tree makes me think of the old west for some reason:-) Wonderful capture!!! (((CARIN)))And thanks from Alex!
Glorious Capture!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! as I understand GPS it is as the crow flies and most roads are not built that way????????????
I'll go with my GPS any day :) :) I love mine! So what if it took 2 hrs extra.. what's the rush!!??? :) :) You got to see things you wouldn't have been able to see had you taken the well beaten path. Besides, those are boring. I love this Carin ... now throw them paper maps away ... heck with 'em. lol :P
Love the contrast between the warmth of the forgeground and the cool colors of the sky. Gorgeous!
oh my oh my .. how very beautiful ! fantastic capture !
Wow! This place is beautiful.
However long you were on the road, it was totally worth it to get this shot. This is just gorgeous! I love that sky. Lekker! Gray hairs are fine, Ouma! :D
LMAO--I know exactly how that works--trust me, Mom---yeah right!! But the foto--worth every second!!
Just shows you - men never stop to ask directions!! But it was worthwile - its a stunning shot Carin! X
way to go for the GPS where did you get the gray hairs if you dont mind me asking lol. excellent capture by the way it would make a nice deck top background.
Beautiful pastel sky and a lovely image, Carin! Amusing story but a great pic for a memory! :)
Excellent still life with a lot of mood! I think it was worth it, thanks to your GPS :|
Fantastic colors :)
