Description
Another eye to eye view of this harmless and rather passive water snake. I believe it is a female and that she had a brood hatch recently because I have noticed at least six little ones in the past week or so. She is about 3 foot long and maybe 1 1/2" or so at the thickest. She is way way bigger than any other snake I have seen in the pond.
There is one more image in this little series.

Wonderful portrait, my friend. Crawling through the fields is successful some times...
I would not go near your pond! Last water snakes I saw in Texas were Cotton Mouths and I don't "cotton" to them. :-) Excellent focus on this. Really a very personal look. Not that I think snakes are beautiful...they are. But they make my skin crawl. :-)
Very interesting view of this snake!
great shot.
Very nice shot of this creature.

Superb capture Lee, seems like you are getting to grips with that new camera now, I cannot fault this shot at all. Bravo!!!!!
Lovely smake. Good photo.
Fanatastic head-on shot!!
perfect focus on its head, what a beauty
Excellent capture!
Daring shot...even if it is a harmless snake.
Amazing focus! Wow, stunning capture!
What an amazing capture. Excellent shot.
real drama given to this by the head-on pov and short depth of field - excellent!
I want one !!
DOF very well utilized without cropping too much of the surrounds.
Fantastic head on shot, was it at this point that you started to think have I got the identity right, could it be that deadly one.
Very cool shot!
