Memorial Day is always overshadowed by retail hype to create a sale as is with any other holiday we have.
Let us remember why we celebrate the day and reflect back on those who gave of their lives and are still giving today.

Incredible tribute to all of those who serve to keep our freedoms for us. I wish there were more people out there who actually appreciate our Veterans for what they've done, no matter the cost, placing themselves in our stead. "All gave some,....some gave all".
Excellent thought - our ill-equipped boys (UK) are getting killed every week in Afganistan while our politicians are all being embarrassed by the corruption scandal for being on the take.

How true. Whenever I go to the cemetery on Memorial Day I mainly see elderly people putting flowers and flags on the graves. Many others are off having picnics and going boating to celebrate the 3 day weekend. I hope Veteran's Day and Memorial Day are traditions that will carry on--being mindful of all who have risked their lives throughout history so that others could celebrate. A strong image with an important message.
