Description
Hello friends of RR,
normally I try to find the fine places of Berlin and show them, but this here is a sort of "social reporting" from the front: "The Berlin Riots"!
What does that mean? Our government try to show you a very fine pic about Germany: The best social system of the world, people who living in peace with themselves and their neighbors, a high income and no strikes....blah, blah... Everything is right and easy here!
But: Don`t believe this words, these are lies.... The german social system was ruined in the last 30 years by a corrupt or stupid (or both) political class, and poverty - especially in Berlin - grows in the whole country as quickly as cancer:
In Berlin are nearly 15% of the people without employment; 25 % live from social transfer money and have a live in sheer poverty; some city quarters here have never seen a cent since the Berlin Wall felt 20 years ago and we have areals a tourist never see.
Its my work here to show my hometown in all aspects, and this is one of it: The so called "Berlin May Riots" started in 1987 and violence and beating-off is a "good old tradition" at the 1st May.
It begins traditional with a street festival in a whole Berlin quarter with hundredthousands of people and the full spectrum of live. And there is a demonstration, of course, it is 1st May....
The problem is the police: They think they must show a massive presence (5 000 men this night), the alcohol of the visitors and the massive presence of uniforms high up the adrenaline level and after the decline of the sun the riots begin till the dawn. We have many young people here in the city who are not afraid by a police uniform; and it is not clear that the police is the alltime winner...
My position? Yesterday I postee a comment for ELCET. In France, the country with a revolution tradition, yesterday protested 1,2 million people in the streets of Paris against Francois Sarkosy. Very fine!
And in Germany?
Germans love to sleep, our caricarturists paint us with a sleeping hat and a night gown as "German Michel", wo wants his peace and a good filled womb... If we have a revolution, we ask our government if it is allowed, and then we buy a railroad ticket, it is a shame!
Yes, I´m proud that I live in Berlin, a city, were young people are not afraid against police uniforms and are able to beat off 5 000 policemen! I wish we Germans had a little bit more courage to beat off our whole corrupt political class and the Banksters, too. Send them to hell!
Pic was taken at Berlin - Kreuzberg at 1st May, one hour before the riots began. The policemen had just began to provoke the people, as seen here. Done with Nikon Coolpix.
Thanks for looking in and comments. This is a very controverse theme, I know.

No matter what country you go to today the politicians are corrupt one way or another. The people have every right to protest. We the people just have to stand up and vote out the bad and try to bring in the good. Super photo.
a very interesting image and text!
I read with great interest Wolfgang, thanks for bringing this to our attention, something we don't always hear about (news of Gemany here in UK) Good piece of social photography and documentation!
fantastica imagen. felicidades.
No country's internal affairs can really be understood by those who don't live there. Thank you for the insight!
Interesting image and text, hate to see things like this going on in the world but sadly that's the times we live in today, stay safe!!!
Excellent informations, dear Wolfgang !!! Wow and a great shot too :) Hugs Karin !!!
Excellent journalistic photography and commentary Wolfgang, I think there is unrest in all the European countries, and riots that are supressed by the governments and do not make the news. They are for the most corrupt in one way or another. Lots of things are coming to light here in the UK, especially MP's(members of parliment) expenses. One allegedly paid for her husbands porn films one her expenses, others claim for a second house when their own is only a couple of miles away, the parents of this one lived in the second house. Quite a few are getting their hands smacked, but thats all, they should be thrown out of parliment using the tax payers money in this way. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Superb work. Bravo!!!!!
wow awesome capture and very interesting info ..
Great picture and writeup. I have to admit the social dynamics of 'civil protest' and the need to capture the attention of the media or avoid it have created an escalating dynamic as the targeted 'viewer' becomes more jaded with the every protest they see in the news and they run from 'issue to issue' never standing still long enough to help or even know what they belive in. Problems of balance.
wow just saw a South afican and links to bad goverment. Here in the U.S. the news is not reporting what is really going on for they like what they see our goverment doing. The tea parties was looked at as terrors acts. no one was hurt. now the gremans too and France too. very good photo
nice capture...
