Description
The Hard Bargain, a former smuggling vessel found adrift and refurbished by a ship dealer, was bought by Shiva Reece and Dante Warner, who used it to start an armored courier service. They, and their crew, operate in a backwater sector of mostly human planets that broke away from the Terran Protectorate, known as the Free Colonies.
The Hard Bargain is a heavily modified Xintrin Free Trader Medium Transport/Patrol Ship. The Xintrin species, one of the most purely capitalistic societies in existence, design even their military vessels to be cargo ships...and will sell all but their ships of the line to anyone.
No one seems to know who owned the Hard Bargain before, but the fact that some older pirates seem to recognize it is a growing concern for the crew.
Vibaretto's Starcarrier and Dystopia's Heavy Hauler are from Daz3d. The Hard Bargain was created in DOGA-L3 and converted to an obj file and retextured in Carrara.
The Hard Bargain is slightly out of scale here, I think. She should be a little larger.
Another render using the Uberenvironment lights...trying to see what they can and can't do and how, since they are so different from other lights.
Feedback would be most welcomed and appreciated.

"Well we could certainly use a pizza run to Proxima Centauri, been dying for an large pie with extra pepperoni." Love your work and that back story is pretty hot! Thanks for posting. Cheers!
Excellent work !!
Story and image are great! Wonder what the crew will do, now that the ships is becoming more 'popular' if that is the correct word for the situation!
Very nice. I agree that the Hard Bargain should be a bit larger. I would also add some greebles to make it look better. I got some free greebles at www.scifi3d.com. ps. I like the cockroach-look of the Hard Bargain.
Nice work on this sci-fi scene. Very good lighting and composition.
I think it would be much larger in size, too. It has a fairly good-sized crew and at the present size, I'd think they would have trouble finding even enough room for themselves. As for the looks, I hadn't thought of it looking like an inject before, but now that it has been pointed out, I can't get that out of my head. I'd like to see more geebles on it, too. Streamlined space ships come off as unrealistic to this viewer. Love the hanger deck, though. Backstory is very interesting. The lights seem to be doing their job. I'm not familiar with them, so have no idea what they are supposed to do that is different from any other lighting. Things are not hidden in deep, dark shadows, so I'd say they were worth the money.
Thanks guys! She has a crew of five, and two robots. And except for the cargo hold, she's supposed to be fairly spartan. But she is a bout 25% too small here. But kibaretto's hanger isn't very big, and even with that I dropped everyone and everything to 50% of its normal size to get this look. I want to up the bump on that hull pattern, but no greebles. One of the things that set it apart from human-made ships. Originally, when I first designed her when I was 13 (back in 1987), she was supposed to function like the Millenium Falcon, but have a look similar to the old Buck Rodgers and Flash Gordon rocket ships. The first Hard Bargain was made out of Space Legos.
Very nice render, excellent work!
Beautiful
Nicely put together scene, looks great!
Oooh, very nice. I love the reflections -- it's a nice little touch that turns the scene from generic-futuristic into something really special. Well -- that and the Hard Bargain herself. grin The story stuff is great as ever. A lovely tease. Really wanna see this story!
Superb scene and shaders rendering!!!
nice ship design!
You certainly have a style of your own. Well done.
