Description
It's this time of the year again, (here on the East Coast in Australia) when these beautiful specimen taking over in my sub-tropical garden. They just thrive on humidity and warmth.
HELICONIA ROSTRATA or better known to some as Lobster claw, related to Bananas & Strelitzias.
It also seems a little reminiscent of the raging Bush-fires, we are experiencing at present in the State of Victoria, shaped just like a flame...
I like to dedicate this to all the 181 victims, who died during this carnage, caused by Arson.

First time I have ever seen one, very beautiful!
Talk about in your face colour and the Lobster claw shape also reminds me of fire crackers, very kool specimen ! I can also see how the shape looks like the fire images we have been watching on T.V., I hope they catch those bastards ! ~Cheers~
Wonderful captures! I've seen these, but never knew what they were called...
Fancy being able to pick these and bring them in! Re the fires, arson leaves us all speechless.

Super beutiful shot my friend.
Beautiful captures of these exotic flowers, what a wonderful splash of colour they must make in your garden. A lovely dedication to all who have lost their lives.
Oh, my! This a double treat! What an elegant flower and you have let me see it in two fabulous shots.
Quite an interesting specimen, very colourful- great shot! On another note, regarding your dedication; It is quite a tragedy that so many have perished for some idiot's causing a fire.
Wow! These are Fabulous!! I've never seen them before; they're absolutely beautiful! Great captures of them too. Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of the victims of the fires there, and as Jeff says, I hope they catch the bastards.

That's an awesome plant... excellent shot!
Stunning blooms, they have a luminesence with such vivid colours. Great images. I manage to grow strelitzia as they can tolerate cooler temperatures if kept dry, in our UK winter indoors. These look like they would need a bit more warmth?
Gorgeous! Wonderful colour!
