Description
A fractal kaleidoscope based on a 3D Mandelbrot set fractal created in FractalWorks, a free, high performance fractal renderer for Macintosh computers.
I created the fractal at very high resolution in FractalWorks, then opened it in PhotoShop, where I downsampled it, sharpened, did some contrast adjustment, and converted it to a kaleidoscope.
If you have FractalWorks version 0.6.0 or later, you can recreate the image this kaleidoscope is based on by clicking the link below:

This image looks best at a larger size than Renderosity allows. To see it at a larger size, click below to see it in my PBase gallery:

nice kaleido!
quite sophisticated and original!!! thanx for sharing!
top notch work.
Gorgeous textures and 3D image. Splendid design and work. You almost make me jealous that I don't have a Mac... almost. ;o) Bunny
Exquisite details, the embossing looks so natural like a real stuffed quilt. If you downsize an image again don't go down so far, I would have loved to use the zoom and seen it a lot bigger!
kaward, Thanks for the kind words. I had to downsize it to get the filesize down to Renderosity's 500k limit. I have a larger version in my pbase gallery. Click below to view it: Embroidered Satin Kaleidoscope large
