Description
The young man has his first try to feed Pixie, an American Kestrel at the Clinch River Raptor Center.
The American Kestrel is the smallest falcon in my part of the Americas. This kestrel differs from the European bird and may not be directly related. This one is female. Males are more colorful, unusual for raptors but common with other birds.
Pixie is imprinted on humans and lives at the center as an educational bird. She insists on being hand fed her delicious mice.
I have been laid off work for a day a week and that is bad news but I did get to visit the raptor center when school kids were there learning how to care for the birds. That was a plus to an otherwise dreary day.

wow, super image, i used to do falcory when i was younger, at one time we had 18 birds of prey and few them all, but alas, things changed and i am i a flat/apartment block with no garden.... but thanks for the memories the image is superb, pov, dof, the only thing that i would have liked to see, is that the young boy being so proud of his falcon in focus with his bird, (personal prefferance only) =] a truley unique and beautiful image 5+++++
