Description
Note the aluminium collar around the power pole behind the house. This is to prevent brushtail possums from climbing to the top of the pole and electrocuting themselves. There's nothing altruistic about that - it just stops possums from causing blackouts both to themselves and others. Despite their cuteness possums are an introduced Australian species that are a noxious forest damaging pest and form by far the highest cate-"gory" of road kills.
