Description
...They were found orbiting several planets in a distant star system. All indications are that they are at least 1 billion years old, sentient machine and capable of "protecting" against intruders or facilitating scientific data to visitors and star system exploration.
Curiously, the internal data base was found to be vague at best as far as describing or identifying the original race of builders. Only a few holographic images depicting a catalog of worlds (over 100,000) they had visited or explored and star chart references to an amazing 25,000 inhabited worlds and their occupants, some defying our current scientific understanding of what life as we know it means.
To think that we have been exploring space for over five centuries and we have only contacted about 200 intelligent life form inhabited planets so we will spend many years analyzing the available data.
All attempts to identify the architects of the Sentrys immediately shut down all our data retrieval systems and fused our fiber optic relays. We will update our database as more information about this mystery becomes available...

At first glance, I thought the lighted part of the planet was part of the sentry object....maybe show some detail in the dark area of the planet to distinquish it more....otherwise, a really nice sci-fi scene, and I like the story too.
