Description
Christmas is the moment for the whole Christian community to celebrate the birth of Jesus Who gave His life and ressuscitated for the salvation of Mankind. This nativity sold on the Aix Christmas market is one of the most impressive I have ever seen by its realism and his mood. It is made of "santons", which are little painted statues produced by very skilled artists since two centuries. The figures here are ca. one ft tall (30cm). Click on the picture to enjoy it better. Comments welcome. Merry Christmas to everybody! My wife mtc will upload another Nativity, this one from Senegal, in one hour. If you enjoyed this post and/or if you want to know more about santons, you can visit my last image:
Little santons (Christmas statues)
Techdata: Nikon D70 with Micro-Nikkor 2.8/60, 1/20s at f/7.1, hand-held, ISO 1250 (of course you cannot use flash). Outline enhancement and Noise reduction in Lab mode on the Grey channel in Photoshop CS3 Extended.
If you like the santons, come back in one and/or two weeks to visit my gallery, my two next posts will be other beautiful scenes made with very realistic santons.

Très belle capture de la scène de la nativitée :)
fantastic capture here....excellent...and Merry Christmas to you and yours!! :-)
Very beautiful photograph. The figures are detaliert very much. I wish you glad Christmas and a happy new year.
If that scene was true as tradition has it, that Baby would be blue with cold, being unwrapped like that. Bethlehem, in the heights of the Judean Mountains, in the midst of winter, is not someplace to walking around unclothed. Religion and History aside, that is very good photography! DO keep up the good work. DPH
Splendid composition and colors my friend.Merry Christmas
En effet, belle photo parce que vu la lumière, ce n'était pas évident d'avoir assez de profondeur de champ!
