Description

Antiquated beyond belief, manned by heroes, the stringbag was a most respected aeroplane. Landed at about 30 mph, practically unstallable. People actually won VC's in this aircraft.

Actually by being behind its time, it was ahead of its time. So slow the fire control radar kept the guns shooting too far ahead of the target!

Outstanding! In one ttack by these aircraft, they sank most of the Italian fleet in theMed. The rest wouldn't come out of port afterwards! Toranto it was called. Wikapedia it. Rob.

I like the aerial slacks. Eventually, the ships figured out how to knock down torpeo bombers. Or did they depend on fixed wing fighters? The TBD is what I am thinking of in Indonesia. Maybe it was just the US torpedoes that made the equation not come out there.

Easily your best profile so far Warren. Stunning amount of detail when viewed full size. It's a fascinating aircraft isn't it.
