Description
The Saxon Cathedral was destroyed in 1069 and the Norman version was completed in 1100. This is the largest church of its type in the UK. Winchester is longer but not larger overall.
This is of course in York, England. The photo is from our wonderful visit in September. The view is toward the entrance and to the back of the photographer is the rest of the cathedral.
We attended Evensong later that day. The choir was wonderful, even if the size of the cathedral overwhelms the attendence of Anglican believers in an audience mostly of visitors.
These ancient structures are a magnificient tribute to the architect/builders of times long past...and quite difficult to photograph unless set up specifically for that purpose.

Beautiful. When we went to Westminster, we attended a service there and it was amazing how wonderful the choir there was also.
