Huge cuddos to de Havilland for the Vampire. It first flew way back in 1943 and must have been one of the first jets into the air((September 1943). though it was beaten by the Me 262 (July 1942), and the Gloster Meteor ( March 1943). They, however were both twin-engine jets, while the Vampire had a single engine. Interestingly two Meteors flown by the Israeli's destroyed two Egyptian Vampires in 1954. Another fine (and nostaligic) presentation.

Another superior render of a ground breaking design. Didn't the RN test the Vampire on a "rubber deck" aircraft carrier? Lots of air forces flew the Vampire for many years.

fine work, as always. I used to know someone who had enjoyed flying the Vampire. His description of it looking "like a Dinky Toy" comes to mind. Agile and well-armed, but somehow it just cannot look aggressive.
