Description
Strange title you may think!! Another shot from the Highlands. I'd never seen this ceremony before..a table was ready in the middle of the room. The chef was piped in and put the haggis on the table to great applause. then the orator steps forward and in a theatrical performance recites a poem in praise of the haggis ( probably by Robbie Burns.) It was really theatrical ,received huge applause but....I have to confess I could hardly understand a word!!
The photo is not a work of art but records an interesting 10 mins of the evening. People to look at when zoomed in and...a few more kilts for Denise. It really deserved filming.
If you are uncertain what a haggis is..check it out.
Have a smile, now you know the background. Thanks for comments and loking. Jean

Ah the sacred rituals of the Scotland. I have never seen a haggis up close, perhaps thankfully. Great introduction to the capture!
excellent!
O, kilts... ::: sigh :::: I do love all things Scottish, but while I've survived trying blood sausage I don't think I'll go as far as haggis. Nice peek into the highland secrets!
beautiful photo.
Good photo expressing the atmosphere there. Thanks for sharing it, Jean.
a fine documentary shot...and although I have heard many other contrary opinions..I love Haggis...smile
Excellent capture Jean, Scotland, a beautiful place steeped in tradition, I used to travel to Scotland every week as part of my job driving wagons, I used to have to talk with men and women there but it was very hard for me to understand them, so you are not alone. I used to leave Sheffield on Monday morning at 04:00hrs and not get home til the Friday at 15:00hrs. I love the sound of the pipes, and the highlands where the people are so friendly, I used to spend a whole day in Glasgow visiting the ship yards and steel works. The people of Glasgow are the hardest to understand. Excellent work. Bravo!!!!!
