Description
Some places around here still retain the original settler's names. I love the easy familiarity it brings ... the sense that everyone knows these people, knows where they live, and uses that information to give each other directions on how to get where they're going. The names of people who lived here a hundred years ago live on in the place names. Thrasher's Corner, Murphy's Corner ... this is Keeler's Corner.
This old building is just a few miles from my house, right on Highway 99. (The main drag that runs from Canada to Mexico.) I took this picture through the front windshield of my car. Don't worry - I was stopped at a light!
The flying horse was the advertising symbol for Mobil Oil for years and years - I remember it from my childhood. I only remember those gas pumps as antiques, however! I'm not THAT old! :)
In addition to the vintage car you see here, there are always several Corvettes parked around this building. Sorry about the Toyota ... not a lot I could do about it!

Great shot and I'm glad the building and the horse are still there...so many things get torn down.
i always wanted to take a picture of that (maybe someday i will when i go down in that area :)
Wow that's an oldie....takes me back to my childhood and Jim Aters' Mobil station up on the corner where I went to get soda ...candy....and air in my bicycle tires
...love that flying horse ---- has something in common with my hockey hometown team's emblem ---the Detroit Red Wings - ( wing attached to tire ) - in fact - now that I think of it --- the Red Wings symbol could have easily fit a gas station as well -----nice nostalgia evoking shot, Tara !
