Description
In commercial business one of the cardinal rules is not to exclude yourself from a good deal. This model when I downloaded it four years ago looked quite well made. I had to do some special things on creasing in Carrara and also fix some rips. It couldn't just be imported to Poser as a .lwo even though that would have been the direct route. Now it can circulate in my world of Poser, Carrara, Bryce and DAZ Studio as either an .obj or .3ds. I just tried it with a trailer I downloaded about six months later and never used before and it doesn't render like this in Poser. In the real world this is a 90's Freightliner Conventional cab from the time when Mercedes owned Freightliner and Renault owned Mack. PACCAR was the US competitor with Kenworth and Peterbilt. I'm not familiar with 3D CAD at PACCAR nor do I know of any major country in tool room math fits to over the highway bodies and airplanes except France. I seem to have seen in the WSJ that Renault had sold Mack to Freightliner so 3D CAD is a bit further away. I am on a very tight rein with these. I got out all of them and looked at their difficulties in bringing them into my circle again including the primitive ones on the Carrara CD. Group of Eight does not refer to the Developed economies ,here, nor Group of Ten to the WTO. Any one who knows the difference between an 8.25 x 20 and a 10.0 x 20 knows that. Did I really see 11.00 x 23.5? It was too fleeting to recall.

Over all the truck is a great render, but, the scales off. The Gents head should come up to just about the top of the air cleaner. Again, very nice looking truck.

Where I am on the scale to begin is a 1949 Chevrolet tractor. Figure his inseam is about 34 and so a 20 inch wheel is about 1/3 larger than half that. Then look in 1960 at the bay in a gas station at 11 feet high and most diesels won't fit in that but they are not as high as what is coming for interstate highways of 13 ft 4 or was it 6. Now this tractor does not have particularly tall stacks as it typically pulls dump bodies or bulk tankers or grain bodies and not vans. A a minimum 10 feet so 4 feet taller than Simon or maybe 11 feet but definitely not 12 feet which would be a van trailer height with a little clearance in 1960. But it's the 90's and tractors and trailers are bigger. The Interstate clearances are going up to 15 feet. So I tried a wheel base between 225 and 245 inches and that is how this came out. True, when I put a trailer on it I wanted it bigger to match the bigger trailer tires. There is a lot to building models in proportion so that ideas about rules of thumb end up compromising most of the dimensions to get a "look." You saw that with my shorthorn.

Wow, splendid modeling on display here! I see these types of rigs on the freeway all the time, especially when they're bearing down me, getting increasingly larger in my rear view mirror.
