I've walked around to the left side of the plume for this shot. The ground here is much hotter and each step you can feel the ground give way a little. I think this is probably the most dangerous part of this little hike. I'm not comfortable with the instability of the new flow which is a few months old. Large cracks in the top layer makes me even more hesitant to walk to the edge.
After a short nimble walk I reach the edge of the lava where the water begins. I put my camera in 8fps and start shooting not wanting to dawdle on this piece of shaky ground.
Here you can see where the actual lava enters the sea. You can see the steam being formed as it hits the water. Makes you feel really small.
After several shots, it's time to get off the bench. The ground around this area is so warm I'm afraid to put my back pack down for fear it might melt from the heat.
Time to go grasshopper.

The definition in this shot is excellent! Even though the plume has similarities to the clouds there is great depth and contrast between the two. =)

looking at the sky, It reminds me you started taking pictures at night... You must be getting a little tired at this point... The pictures of the series were fantastic... this one is begining to show that the end is here... this looks great but common compared to all those other awesome pictures in this series....
