do you remember, when you were a child, you got a box with coloured pencils with a beautiful image on the box? somehow you never got your images as beautiful as the ones on the box, no matter how hard you tried.
now of course you know, you were cheated. the image on the box was made with professional materials and the pencils you got were of inferior quality because the really good ones were too expensive, but you had lots of pleasure with them and you learned a lot.
now you know and you have quality materials and a computer, which means there are things that change for the better :-)
hopefully you have just as much fun as you had then.

I have always loved new art supplies -- such a wealth of promise and array of beautiful colors...wonderful image, takes me right back there!
beautiful job with the painting both on the box and in the actual image; and you've bathed both in a wonderful grainy texture which makes them warm and very dreamlike. Your pencils have that wonderful clarity you get in your drawings. And it's basically 3 objects displayed as simply as possible, but with the kind of angle & rhythm that typify you. (Everything comes alive.) And I love your description of those early years: I'm afraid to say that when it comes to painting, I'm STILL like that kid! I could handle drawing, but not painting! I couldn't even handle "paint-by-numbers". I hope this painting had numbers, or else I'd bring the box back to the store!......A sensitive and typically intelligent job; and—as always—with the subtlest sense of humor. This is just fantastic, Koosie. What a brilliant idea. OH yes I remember very well. And remember it never ended up as I wanted it, but the best was to get a brand new colorbox. I had visions to make something BIG and i am still looking forward to the day it happens. :-) Koosie what a wonderful work of art. Thanks for sharing and for the memories too.
