Description
Another local oddity, captured back on 11/4/07, around 10:30 AM, in beautiful downtown Los Angeles, CA.
Just who is that dude? Okay, let me guess....a Captain America wannabe? Certainly not SpiderMan, Batman, or The Atom. A visitor from a galaxy, far, far, away? Or perhaps a leftover from a very long Halloween party who happened to stop by and join in on the festivities.
What surprised me most was not the sight of this unlikely costumed character in an everyday normal urban setting, but the absolute nonchalant indifference of the crowd to his presence. He was the only one of his ilk around and not part of the entertainment. They didn't pay him no mind at all. Been there, seen that! Another example of the jaded Los Angeleno in action, or nonaction. Actually, I was hoping he would launch himself into the air and fly above the crowd.
Incidentally, the guy behind Captain America in the top photo is applauding to a speech, and not calling time out.
So, what was I doing in downtown LA on a Sunday morning when I'm usually doing my food shopping? Well, I was there to participate in the Alzheimer's Association's annual Memory Walk held each year, a fund raising event participated in by literally thousands who have either lost loved ones to the dreaded disease or who just want to stamp this ailment out of existence with their support, or both. Having lost no one to this illness, I fall into the category of giving support.
Thankx for the visit, and have a specifically special Sunday.

Now that's funny. Maybe all his other clothes were in the wash? Or maybe his 'superhero sense' was tingling. Who knows, but I'm not surprised to hear that you found him in Los Angeles. Thanks for the chuckle.
Takes all sorts, doesn't it? chuckle Blending right in in LA or SFO would have been easy for this guy! LOVE the shots though and great images/story to start the day with!
Looks right at home to me; doesn't every city have superheroes walking around amongst the general populace? Great capture!
.. and bless your heart for the selfless support you give. That makes you so special! This looks like a lot of fun; i couldn't help but smile, because it seems no matter where you are, there's always someone texting :)
happy you took part and did not forget lol anyway I know Alzheimer is not funny and I like this photo.
I, too, wish he'd soared above the crowds! I know you'd have a magical shot to share with us!
LOL, that's part of a city's charm, that someone like this guy can walk around and no one bats an eye!! And big huge hugs to you for supporting this cause; my mom was in early days of this horrible affliction when she passed.
Funny shots!
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's when you forget to attend that we'll start to worry. Interesting shots.
Well, it does take all kinds of monkeys to make a zoo, doesn't it ?! Fun shot, and I do believe he would have attracted some attention here. Bravo to you, kind sir, for your support of a very worthy cause!
The littl blue man used to run across the road near Elkton at midnight and once made Life magazine in the 50's. All because of a song.
