Description
This is Dr. Pepper again. Most of the next few shots I post of this heron are going to be black and white or sepia-toned because as I was postworking the photos I realized that they look much better this way. B&W and sepia make you see patterns of light and shadow and textures a lot more because the colors aren't distracting you (plus most of the colors are very dull due to there not being enough light). So there you go. Not my usual style but I hope you enjoy anyway -- hey if you don't like my usual style may this'll be a real treat!
Postwork: made black and white with a sepia-toned soft light layer on top for style and to bring out the contrasts more.
EDIT: not assuming gender in herons anymore (because if you think about it, that just makes no fucking sense -- it's not like they can tell us what gender they are -- plus it's cissexist and binarist). sorry about that.

Excellently done! I'll have to go back and try that with some of my substandard heron shots (well, all of them, I guess!) But your shots are great to start with, a clarity I haven't yet reached. I do like how the shadows and lines are more apparent this way -- excellent work!
