Description
AloooooooHa!
5:33am and I have fiddled with my camera settings and jumped my ISO to 1250 and am down to 5.0 @ 1/50. I'm trying to keep up with the changing light and trying not get any long exposures. The clock is running on the magic 15 minutes and I'm trying to keep up with the action.
Madam Pele waits for no one and a lot of shots are wasted trying to dial in the right settings...I'm so confused at this point. The camera can't seem to keep with the ever changing light and I'm getting a bunch of blurry crap-ola. At this point, I just kept shooting and hoping for the best.
At this time I catch my first glimpse of the large plume of smoke that has gone pretty much unnoticed by me all night because of the darkness. I'm so stoked to see the plume at first light.
More of the first light in my next post. Mahalo's to all who have faithfully followed and commented on this series....I hope your enjoying the view as I did...Aloha to all~

This was certainly worth the wait, both for you and us. This series has just been beyond outstanding, as always. You are the Master of Lava Shots, both day and night.
Wow! I should have been there instead of being far away tracing the lava tube path. Superb colors and capture my friend. Aloha

Awesome color and fireworks in this shot! I like the gradual lighting in your shots as thing become more visible. I think you've done a fantastic job capturing the lava~ =)
Terrific shot showing the plumes of smoke that could not be seen earlier. Splendid image and bravo for accomplishing all this in such difficult light situations!
