Hello all!!!
Leaving for vacation soon for a few weeks in lower western Michagan where my Mom lives ( going this time without the girls though...:O( - they are going beach camping with thier Dad ) ...
SO will miss them terribly but want to focus on a special time with my Mom as it is her upcomming 70th B-day in a few weeks !
So won't be around for a while after this, but
wanted to leave you with one I took last Sunday off the Santa Monica pier. I was drawn to that big beautiful sandcastle, warm setting sun ,waves and kids playing in the waves... a real southern California Summertime beachy feel!!!
By the way that beautiful Sand castle in the right corner was built gingerly by a very old & determined man = he was so into playful like with it like a kid !. I watched him for a little while before shooting this then he stood back distracted by lifegaurd who seemed to like his castle . And so I shot this scene here...( I have always REALLY admired people who can keep the child alive and imagination soaring !!!)
All captured off the Santa Monica pier this past Sunday on a family outing. Tried to get a good capture of the mood I experianced that evening with only the 10 minutes to play around with my cam kneeling down on the wooden pier. Had my 3 impatient girls calling and tugging on me to stop taking pictures and go on rides lol ..."COMonnn MOM!!!"....LOL
Always is a constant thing for me :
the whole thing of being torn between my family and my photoshoots, but I do try my best to put my girls first! a bit more challenging though when a beautiful beach scene is calling with the sound of nearby gulls and surf crashing.... "Nooooo, hey come ov'r HERE"!, the waves seems to say!!! " ;O)
Well need to start packing here pretty soon ..

This shot was taken well after Veronica played her harmonica at the pier in Santa Monica. Simply awesome capture, Kimmie! The golden effects in the diaphanous sky and ocean reflections and textures are mind boggling! I just do not have the adequate words to describe the beauty I see before me. I wish again I was back in Michigan, down on the farm. Have a nice trip.

Now thats what I call a 'Golden Pond'(pun intended). All men are like that Kim, we never grow up, I would do the same as this chap with my grandkids. My castle wouldn't be as good as this though. Lol. I can't run but I still kick a ball with the three year old, neighbour's son. If it goes to wide for me he runs and gets it. At first I thought "she's leaving this to go on holiday?", then I read you were visiting your mom, "Happy Birthday" Kims mom. Superb capture Kim, beautiful golden tones from top to bottom, a perfect setting sun and a perfect scene. Bravo!!!!!

Hi Kimmers, this is a lovely photo - taken with such thought and with such beauty. I actually was at the Santa Monica pier only a few months ago, when I was visiting LA. I was a finalist for a literary award and it was my first time in CA ever. (I'm Swedish, living in Sweden.) My friend and I stayed at Redondo Beach, in the marina, and it was magical with the sealions barking and beautiful weather. I din't win the award, but seeing Hollywood, Long Beach, etc., was prize enough for me! Have a wonderful vacation and also say happy birthday to your mom! Gun aka redheadgrrl
