Description
Mars Lander USS ARES
This is the Lander for my project Mars Explorer Hermes 1. The Lander is fitted inside its aeroshell for entry into the Martian atmosphere. After burning its way through the shell will split apart and fire its breaking thrusters. The Lander will then descend to the Martian surface on its own power by its 4 rocket engines.
This Lander will already be in Mars orbit having left Earth 6 months earlier waiting for the Hermes to arrive. Once the Hermes and Ares rendezvous in orbit and transfer crew to the Lander the Ares will descend to the surface.
I will be showing the Ares and Hermes docked in orbit next.
Cheers,
David

Looks fantastic David :)
Very cool! I like the well thought through details, like the hatch on the side of the shell that lines up with the Ares shell.
Outstanding modeling and texturing! Has NASA seen your work?
I have to agree with all of the above. Outstanding modeling.
I think it would be damn scary diving into Mars atmosphere completely blind, hope ing the aeroshell splits to allow a control landing. Wonderful work as always. On another note...will your descendants pilot the Jupiter 2?
Great Modeling...!!
Superb!
Fantastic modeling, Your work is fantastic, very realistic designs, and very well thought-out. I think that's what I like the most about it, very practical, realistic designs.
way cool lander!
