Description
Roughly August 2007, I decided to try to grow some veggies here to save the owner some money on groceries and to be able to get (myself) and give some fresh veggies to the people living here. So my maintenance man dug a place for me in the back yard and I started seeds in the house. I planted at the end of March and the plants weathered thru two more unexpected frosts and squirrel assassins. Out of seven zucchini plants only three survived...so I was truly excited last week to see that I had blossoms! I had placed chicken wire cages over the remaining three plants so I breathed a sigh of relief knowing they were safe from the squirrels...
Saturday morning I took this picture, Saturday evening I went out to check on things because we had 91 degree weather with high humidity and everything was wilting...I was devastated to find that something had eaten both blossoms. I have no idea what ate them and killed one of the other plants:-( So I have two plants and no blossoms, the prize seemingly lost at this point.
Thanks again for your patience with my lack of comments, I am close to catching up with everyone. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the 'He Loves Me, He loves Me Not' game was known worldwide and thanks to those who left the words for me in their respective languages, that was awesome!!! And thanks for looking, reading and previous comments.

Excellent capture!!
gorgeous image and lighting !!
You planted for food....someone else ate what was food to them. Keep up your gardening and you will have your squash. Excellent shot
Here is a trick I used in my gardens. Use mushroom compost to fertilize the ground. Then use miracle grow after the plants are planted. Then in 3 weeks use miracle grow again.Do not over do the miracle grow only spray the ground heavy for about a minute making sure you do not get on the leaves of the plant using the spray adapter on your hose.I did this in my garden every year. I planted tomatoes and other things and my boss thought that I have grown beef steak tomatoes and they were just regular early birds. I had so many that I was giving them away to all the neighbors and friends. Also there are natural ways to keep critters out of your garden you can find on line.It will not hurt them they just do not like the smell so they stay away.Sorry you garden did not do so well. But it is not to late to get some bigger grown starts to still get some before the winter and fall.If you do the miracle grow
how you feeling now lynn ,hope your better now .i struggling to catch up aswell :o)..excellent capture mick
A sad story Lynn, but it is also one of endeavor, which is good... looks like someone was playing 'she love me' with those petals too.
Aww! That's so sad, sorry, Lynn! :( Beautiful picture though, and you can always plant more seeds. :) Good luck, my friend, get us know how it goes! :))
Was it slugs and snails? whatever it is, it's so disappointing! i'm battling molluscs on the climbing beans, but i don't really want to poison them (although it might just come to that in the end!)
Fantastic image! :)
