Description

I found this cluster of feathers in my yard. I think they belong to a Grouse...? And I stuck it in this rotting stump for texture and contrast. A bit of photoshop manipulation (Craquelure) happened to give it a boost. Thank you kindly for looking today and also your previous visits and comments. Happy Day! jodie, this is gorgeous. You're one of a few artists who can capture a very complex surface and still find wonderful grace & balance in it. And you've placed the feathers in a wonderfully diagonal position, ever so slightly tilted to produce the gentlest counterpoint to the bare bark, and pick up the tilt of the bark beneath it. And its colors somehow bring out the hidden rusts in the tree. This is beautiful work, and one of many reasons why I consider you a first rate, so subtle and beautiful photographer. A beautiful shot.

You did excellent with the angle and arrangement of the composition! The fine colorful feathers are a real treat contrasted by the rough bark. Well done Jodie!

Apparently the feathers are from an Indian warrior's headdress. I wonder what ever happened to the Indian. Perhaps still on the warpath. That said, magnificent clarity, contrast, composition and myriad of textures on display in this marvelous capture, Jodie!
