Description
Nothing done to this apart from a bit of sky cropped off and resize. I put this in just to mshow you how close to the main road into Barrow-in-Furness the South Lakes Wildlife Park actually is, I think there is about fifty yards if that between the Dual Carriageway and the perimiter fence of the park.
These two were having a bit of a stand off, the left hand one was grazing and every time it went towards the right hand one that one started to growl. I say growl because I don't know what else to call it, I know it frightened the baboons when it did it and they darted for cover, as you can see from the last one he was disturbed whilst up to something. Lol. Also take note of the Robin lower left on the stump. Both Alan and I were taking a couple of shots of the robin prior to this one and a couple of kids scared it off. I didn't realise it was in this shot until I got home.
Thanks for stopping by for a look and for any comments you care to make.
I hope those that celebrated the fourth had a good time and the head aches were not too heavy this morning.

These shots just keep getting batter and better!!!!
Excellent shot, fantastic details and beautiful light, my friend
I thought this was Africa! Well captured Jeff, sometimes you have better opportunities this way than we in Africa. Good pose and the flattened ears on the right hand one shows agitation.
How exciting to see this, Jeff! As good as being there with the bonus of not getting wet. I'm enjoying the visit you made on our behalf!
Crikey! I can just imagine the drama if one of those things escaped onto the roadway!! Great shot Jeff!
excellent capture Jeff, i think the baboons are more meaner then the rhinos.
Great shot with good information on the surrounding area. Amazing that the road is so very close indeed. Beautiful rhino's and baboons.
The compound you see top left the nearest to the road is the Lion Enclosure. I suppose they see all the cars go past and think meat in a can.
Lol "meat in a can", Jeff stop it! I remember you telling me about this bit of aggression between them but I wasn't as lucky I missed the moment! It certainly is a great shot showing the busy road including sign! so close I thought the same as Rockstrider, what if they got out onto the road? Mayhem!
Great image and capture Jeff looks like they are going to butt each other, excellent well done..
I see the robin. he look small next to the rinos. cool shot as for artaddict2 comment of them getting on the road. One got out of the zoo close by here and the police shot it dead lol. big looking into that for i think it was a white rino too
What a great shot! I can just see one of these wandering down the road. Yikes!
the Dallas zoo has an interstate highway right next to it and a major street just on the other side.near the Rhinos the noise from the interstate is very bad I would not want to be between the two huge lugs!!superb work Jeff
Great shot--not something you see everyday!!
When they talk about hardheadedness, they must be talking about something like this. Real great shot.
Love the tension in this, and the baboon scurrying away..fantastic work.
Excellent capture Jeff.
Good observation and capture Jeff!!! I take Piet's word for flattened ears show agitation. I wonder how the outcome was!!!
Fantastic capture.
Excelent capture, jeff ! good eye and observation, they look like read to fight, great capture of the moment !
Jeff, this is outstanding! I had to laugh loud! It is so funny to see your fine green UK landscape in the background and the highway with all that cars, it looks so strange! "Hey comrade, let`s change place... Why don“t we do it on the road? The audience is much bigger......!" .............LOL I hope there is a fine new fence....
nice shot:
Great, I don't want to stand between them. Beautiful capture again Jeff!
Yikes! I definitely would not want to be between them or anywhere near them when this kind of behavior is going on!!! Great catch!!!
Interesting! Great capture, Jeff! :)
Hi Jeff WOW, I would have missed the bird thanks for pointing it out wonderful capture sweet smile to you warm hug, Linda
Oh Jeff - can you imagine these two taking each other on!!! I wouldn't want to be close to witness it!!! Great capture my friend! May the sun shine on you!!! :)
Very powerful couple..ready to fight...confrontate. and great colours
Kind of a "mine's bigger than yours thing"..
Wonderful shot and I would have never noticed the Robin if you hadn't have pointed it out.....it blends right in....so who won the stand off? LOL
