Description
I captured this Cape Buffalo at the Thorny Bush Private Game Reserve in South Africa. The amazing thing was that the ranger drove us into the middle of a whole herd of buffalo - approximately 200 of them. They were all around the vehicle (open) and we could actually touch them, although it is not recommended. It was just incredible to see them that close. I had to change lenses as my zoom was too strong!!! They are regarded as the most dangerous of the Big 5 because of their unpredictability, but this herd was very peaceful and unfortunately no close encounters to report!!! *smile*

Excellent capture Carin.I saw how dangerous they can be in the video clip Battlr of the Kruger on You Tube.
Terrific POV, lighting contrasts and textures in this marvelous capture of the grazing buffalo, apparently unperturbed by your presence, Carin.
EXCELLENT CAPTURE !!!!!
Great shot!
Good strong image Carin.
I would sooner face a pack of starving wolves than one of these Carin, they would at least rip me to bits, this one would toss me around for a while before killing me. Lol. #:0) Excellent capture, I'm not sure if the guide was knowledgable about the herd or just plain stupid, I think I will go with stupid. Superb work. Bravo!!!!!
WOW!! Powerful image...Excellent capture!!
Great portrait of this magnificent animal, Carin. I love the detail!
This is a fine shot of one massive creature.I say let him graze all he wants.
Wow! Would not want to get this close to this dangerous creature! What a shot!
oohhh! Peaceful, I would hope! Look at the head on that one! Beautiful!
Syncerus caffer at its best! Up close and sharing the tranquility as it grazes. Lovely capture Carin.

great capture !!!
i would really love to have been here carin :o)..excellent capture mick
I suppose its like our deer...people see them and they look like a sweet creature so they try to walk up and pet them. We have a high incidence of stupidity accidents each year from city folks who get stomped, kicked and gored by "Bambi." I do love the peaceful stupid look in this guy's eyes.
what a wonderful shot!
You are too brave. I probably would have left that strong zoom on and moved farther back from this dangerous beauty. Excellent and brave shooting. Aloha
Excellant capture my friend...Jen
Oh wow! I'm not sure if I would be comfortable enough to get this close, must be so exciting to be out there and see these amazing animals like this!
Oh What a CAPTURE!! Splendid my compliments... (My chinese sign) ;-)
that is about as close as you would want to get to one of these cantancerous fellows, even in a Land Rover made to take the full impact of a charge of a full grown rhino:)
Very impressive big fellow ! Excellent colours and details ! Well done ! I feel a bit safer sitting where i'm right now !
