Here’s the character who represents Jeanne-Antoinette Poisson, Marquise (later Duchesse) de Pompadour, also known as Madame de Pompadour who was a well-known courtesan and the famous mistress of King Louis XV of France.
After the Seven Years' War, with all its disasters, like the loss of New France in Canada to the British she is alleged to have comforted the king saying this now famous by-word: "au reste, après nous, le déluge" ("After us, the Deluge")

Here in the states I love to go to the Renaisance Faires...the costumes are always a treat (used to want to be a costumer but I don't sew well lol) These images are a great treat to me and you must have had so much fun! Can't wait to hear more about the balloon flight ; )
