Description
After the great raft trip**, my son and I drove into Yosemite itself and walked miles and miles around the park. Besides the obvious grand vistas of Half Dome, the falls, and the other amazing sights, there is a much simpler beauty to the valley. This is a tamarack tree, simple, tall and wonderfully lit. The bark of this tree is also quite unique, as you can see here as well.

Stellar shot Marilyn. The more Yosemite pics I see, the more certain I am that Bruce has got to take me there!!! We'll 'hire' you as a guide! :)
This is a new one on me! I don't know this tree, but I'll find out more now - so thanks for that. Love the photographs. Mike
Wonderful!
I can just imagine how grand a feeling it must be to stand beneath these trees and be covered by their canopy. Amazing captures, Marilyn.
great shot!
wonderful captures brings the smiles out sweet sunshine to you warm hug, Linda
the tree do look diff for sure. thanks for showing us this
The tree is definitely different, but the POV employed is sure familiar. I like the backlighting of the leaves, and the weird trunk in the right photo looks like a vertical stack of doughnuts.
Ooooh I love the colors in the atmosphere here! it's like I'm really there! superb captures :-)
I have heard of them but this is the first one I have seen, what a wonderfull specimen you picked to capture. Excellent work. Bravo!!!!!

Hug and kiss in Your heart.Luminous blesing. Ludy Sorry to have that to write the same thing in English to all, but are few the words that I have in English to say I“speak Spanish.
Oooooooh! Oooooh, I like this! Kinda reminds me of a Nemaean Caxa tree...only less dangerous. Eh...don't ask. You'll probably be reading about Caxas soon and don't be surprised if they look suspiciously like something you just photographed. This is a gorgeous composite of images, with a fantastic capture of light and shadow as well as color! Great stuff!
Lovely POV. The Tamarack tree is a relative of the Tamarack larch that is used in the making of Bonsais!!!
