Description
The second of 3 Apple product concepts I recently completed for MacLife magazine.
This concept is not actually based on a patent, but one of my own. Apple has filed a patent for a customisable keyboard along the lines of the Optus, which has individual lcd screens on every key to allow for custom symbols, and application icon hot keys.
However, I figured that the ultimate would be to use the iPhones touch screen technology, and have a complete customisable screen/surface that would allow for app specific 'overlays' as well as bespoke game themed layouts etc - I want one of these! :D

This would be awesome for people who do alot of graphics or film work. I also like seeing the dock on the keyboard... instead of moving a mouse you just tap the application you'd want. Could be cool for the next Air.

It is a great idea. No longer will we be limited to qwerty (although i'd probalby stick to it). No reason that it has to look like a keyboard layout at all. Very very cool I would like one too please.

that would be nuts, but it might feel a bit awkward typing on a flat surface. great job anyways
Nice pic. :) I like to rest my hand on the keys when using C4D so I might have problems with this keyboard.....oh and I don't have a Mac..doh! I like the Mac phones.

Kick ass concept! It would take a little of getting used to I reckon - without the feel of key - awesome as far as customization goes though. Very cool work:)

Make that with a multitouch layer and I want one now :) Did you think about patenting this idea ? It is bound to happen sooner or later.
